Read the promotion, then read it again from the bottom
A calm route through eligibility, restricted funds, game contributions and the deadline—before a headline becomes a decision.

The headline is only an invitation to read
A large number can dominate a small screen. Put it aside for a moment and ask who can take part, which action qualifies, and when that action must happen. If the page does not make those conditions easy to find, save the URL and ask for the complete terms instead of filling the gaps yourself.
Start a blank note with the promotion’s name and the date you read it. Record the actual wording of a condition that you find confusing for your own reference. Avoid combining an old screenshot with current terms as though they describe a single offer.
Identify the money being described
A displayed account total can bring several ideas together. Read the conditions to distinguish funds deposited by you from a restricted bonus balance. Do not assume that a number visible in a wallet is available to withdraw.
The Gambling Commission’s Great Britain glossary separately defines deposit and bonus balances. Its definition of significant terms includes eligibility, time limits, qualification, maximum stakes and wagering requirements. That is a useful reading vocabulary even when you must consult a different local regulator for the applicable rules.
A closer look
The promotion reading order
- 1 · Who and whenEligibility, qualifying action and the deadline.
- 2 · Which balanceDeposit funds, bonus funds and restrictions.
- 3 · What countsEligible games, contribution and stake conditions.
- 4 · How it endsWithdrawal conditions, expiry and what happens if you decline.
Translate a multiplier into an amount
Use arithmetic to understand a condition, never as a forecast of whether it will be completed. In a hypothetical example, a requirement of five times a 20-unit bonus describes 100 units of qualifying wagering if the multiplier applies only to that bonus. It does not mean that you need 100 units of starting cash, nor that 100 units of wagering will return the original balance.
Now check the actual base in the terms. Does the multiplier attach to the bonus, another stated sum, or something else? Ask rather than importing the hypothetical formula into an unrelated promotion. Read game contributions and exclusions before doing further arithmetic.
Find the rule that applies where you are
Promotion rules are jurisdiction-specific and can change. The current Great Britain LCCP incentive condition caps bonus wagering requirements at ten times and prohibits combining specified gambling product types in one incentive. That is a Great Britain licensing rule, not a worldwide description of every promotion.
An international page should therefore leave room for a local answer. Confirm the operator, product, jurisdiction and current condition. An unfamiliar or conflicting term is a reason to pause, not to assume that a familiar brand must have applied the rule correctly.
Write down the exit as carefully as the entry
Before accepting anything, ask what happens if you decline, stop part-way through, or request a withdrawal. Look for the treatment of unused bonus funds and any related winnings. It is reasonable to prefer a clear answer over an attractive headline.
Try a final reading test: explain the conditions aloud without using the promotional amount. If you cannot say who qualifies, what funds are restricted, what counts and when the arrangement ends, you have more reading to do. Choosing not to accept a promotion is a complete decision.
